A heads-up (yes, I can do short blogs sometimes!)
The article I wrote about the influence of the Shy Ann family is now online. Just click on the Articles tab at the top of my blog. This article was originally published in Breeding Matters, and thanks to them for approval to reprint on my blog. I cover some of the historical and present day connections in New Zealand, and to a lesser extent in Australia (readers: please add comments to flesh this out).
Photos from Rod Croon and Highfields Bloodstock show some of the older representatives of the family that are still alive (and in some cases breeding) in New Zealand.
The Shy Ann family has had a further influence on NZ Harness Racing. We bred Follow The Stars ( Art Major – Smyrna Duruisseau USA) . His record is now 2starts for 2wins and a time of 1.53.8 for Mark Purdon. We purchased Smyrna Duruisseau USA at Harrisburg and Follow The Stars is her second foal. Smyrna Duruisseau’ s dam Secret Date is a daughter of Dateable from Adios Betty who is a daughter of Shy Ann. The Shy Ann family is one that I have followed , having purchased a filly from Sudden Success a few years ago at the NZ Yearling Sales. Cheers Anne Anderson
Yes congratulations! I recently did an update (Feb 8) that noted him as a descendant and linked to the article on Mark Purdon’s website.
